8th International Film Festival Bratislava
Bratislava, November 11, 2006 (BratislavaHotels.com) - The
eighth year of the Bratislava International Film Festival takes place
on December 1-9, 2006 at the Aupark Shopping Centre multiplex cinemas.
International Film Festival in Bratislava was established in 1999.
Starting as a small festival with few screens and some hundreds of
visitors it later became a major cultural event hosting thousands of
guests each year. International Film Festival Bratislava has also
changed location since its opening year. Originally organized in
Istropolis congress centre, then moved to newly opened shopping mall
Polus City Centre and its multiplex cinemas. It moved again in 2003, to
its current location at Aupark Palace Cinemas, utilizing its location
close to the city centre and good public transport connections.
The festival features 10 thematic sections, including: International
competition of first and second movies, European film, Focus: the Other
Balkans, Profile of important film-maker (british director Michael
Winterbottom), National Hits.

Public transportation from the centre:
buses no. 83, 84, 93, 94 from Zochova street, bus no.50 from Safarikovo
square, bus no. 80 from Kollarovo namestie or bus no. 88 from Novy most
stop (under the New Bridge near Hotel Danube). Take bus no. 80 or no. 88, if coming from Hotel Esprit. get off at Aupark stop.
Recommended Bratislava hotels close to the venue: Hotel Devin, Hotel Radisson SAS Carlton, Botel Marina, Botel Gracia - all of these are within a 15-20 minutes walk across the New Bridge. Hotel Esprit is located in Bratislava-Petrzalka near Aupark Shopping Centre.
