The apartment was just a five minute walk from the busy Old Town with several bars and restaurants. The owner/rep was very helpful, indicating on a map the best places to go, and at the end of our stay he was kind enough to let us put our cases in another room (as our one had a new booking) for a few hours as we had a late flight.

Apartment Maximilian is a two bedroom apartment suitable for up to 8 persons. It is located in a residential building in Bratislava city centre short walk to the pedestrian zone of the historical centre.

Each bedroom is equipped with one single bed and a double bed. Living room in Apartment Maximilian features a satellite TV set (with 200 channels, many of them in English language) and broadband internet access. It can sleep an additional two persons on fold out sofa bed. The furniture is new.

Bathroom is separate from toilet and features a bathtub with shower and a washing machine. Kitchen is equipped with all necessary utensils and appliances.

Apartment Maximilian is 85 sq. metres (approx. 914 sq. feet). It is suitable for individual leisure or business travelers, couples or families with a child. Please note that eight steps have to be climbed to get to the elevator.

This apartment can be jointly requested with Studio Apartment Staromestska located on the same floor in the same building, for groups of up to 11 persons.

Tidbit about apartment:
The building was under communism University of politics Central Committee of Communist Party, where was lectured doctrine of Marxism-Leninism. In the east wing of the building (which now houses the apartment Maximilán) were apartments for prominent communists. After the fall of communism in 1989, the building housed the county office, district office today. In the east wing of the building were built offices. In 4th floor was office space used by the anti-communist Radio Free Europe, which also had its broadcasting studio there. In 2006, the administration space converted into a residential area known as Maximilian apartment after the first king crowned in Bratislava Maximilian of Hapsburg.

The apartment is decorated with copies of etchings from the fund of the City Gallery of Bratislava which depict various scenes from the coronations of Hungarian kings in today's Bratislava and photographs of modern event Coronation Festival 2003, which commemorate the coronation of Maximilian as King of Hungary.

From Airport take bus no. 61 to the terminus (Train station). (25 minutes)

From Bus Station take trolleybus no. 206 and get off at fifth stop (Hodzovo namestie). Pass the square so that you have Presidential Palace on your right, cross the street, turn left and cross the street again. Change to bus no. 83 or 93 and get of at the first stop (Zochova). Walk back 100 metres - Apartment Maximilian is on your left (Staromestska street 6/D, 25 minutes).

From Czech Republic:
Continue straight down the highway E65, cross several traffic lights (after Hypertesco Lamac store pass 6 traffic light) and drive direction city center (centrum). Continue to Prazska street, pass Main Train Station and continue on Stefanikova street towards Hodzovo square with Presidential Palace. On traffic lights on Hodzovo square turn left. On your right you will pass Hotel Crowne Plaza and turn right to Vysoka street. On your right there is entrance to the underground garage Tatracentrum.

From Berg border crossing:
Take route E58 (Viedenska road) until the exit to E75 (Einsteinova street). Follow Einsteinova street. Continue until exit to the Novy most - New Bridge and use it to cross the Danube. Continue straight from the bridge on Staromestska street to the first traffic lights. Stay on on surface, bear right and turn right at Hodzovo square. Make an U-turn, bear right and turn right to Vysoka street after you pass Hotel Crowne Plaza. Underground garage Tatracentrum is on your right.
