Come work for BratislavaHotels.com!
We are looking for a new member of the BratislavaHotels.com team. Could it be you?
The ideal candidate is a student living in Bratislava who would be available to work about 20-25 flexible hours per week.
Your English language ability is a key requirement. You must speak fluently with a good accent and must understand native speakers from various countries over telephone. You must be able to compose emails in English with good grammar and vocabulary. Mostly only candidates who have spent at least a year in an English speaking environment meet the needs of this position. You must also be a profficient computer user. You must know how to search the internet effectively, use email, Facebook, word processing and spreadsheet software (familiarity with Open Office a plus). We will teach you to work with our proprietary reservations management software, multilingual hotel description database and email software.
You must excel at customer service, enjoy it and have a good sense of how to make our clients happy with the service we provide. A good phone manner is a must. This is not a sales job but sales skills can be useful sometimes.
A good attitude is a must, as is friendly disposition. Being assertive is also a big plus. But most importantly, we would like to work with someone we enjoy being around (and who enjoys being around us).
You should be independent and able to understand company priorities to set your own. There are countless tasks on our set of Bratislava and Slovakia tourism portals (BratislavaHotels.com/.sk and others such as BratislavaGuide.com and Slovakia.org) and we appreciate if you are able to identify them and do them before someone tells you to.
An additional language such as German, French, Russian is a plus as is technical ability. We also highly value writing skills.
Ideal availability is about four hours per day with some flexibility to substitute for regular staff for a few hours (if possible also for a few days during vacations). We will pay you an hourly wage with a bonus of up to 30% if you excel at your work.
We are a small, forward thinking company with a very informal work environment. You will join the Reservations Manager Monika who works on regular working days. You will learn to help Bratislava visitors over email and telephone to arrange their stays. You will also deal with suppliers such as hotels, taxi providers, activity organisers and many others. You must be ready to support other team members in clerical tasks, errands, purchasing supplies, trips to the post office etc.
We reside in a nice, sun-lit office in a leafy street in the centre of Bratislava. We do not have cubicles or excessive layers of hierarchy. We do not have weekly teambuilding, do not make you bring a note from the doctor to confirm when you are sick, do not track you computer activity, do not use a punch clock, do not make you keep your desk clean. We are open minded, bike-friendly and accommodating of students' exam schedules.
We offer almost 150 accommodation options in Bratislava (hotels, hostels, pensions, apartments). You should over time get to know them to be able to recommend the best to our visitors. We work with many major events (film festivals, sports events, conferences) to help with accommodation arrangements. Many business people also call our phone line to get advice choosing a hotel, to order airport taxis, event tickets, etc.
There are three other staff members who work at the office (Monika, Daniel and Andrej). There are a number of part-time collaborators who occasionally come through our office as well. We also share the premises and some infrastructure with our sister firm, the internet marketing agency Pizza SEO and an architectural firm (a Jack Russel also likes to hang around).
The other perks of our work are occasional event tickets, Thai massage vouchers, coffee or even lunch at Bratislava's nicest hotels, wine, guided tours, company coffee free all day (and tap water).
If this is at all interesting for you, have a look at the following three tasks (downloadable .doc file) we would like you to try to complete as part of your application. You can do this at home and take as much time as possible. If you write a good response in good English showing thought and consideration, we will invite you to an in person interview at Gajova 4.
Please send us the completed tasks along with your CV and a few lines at contact@bratislavahotels.com (we do speak Slovak, don't worry). Please put "I want to join the team" in the subject of the email.
If you have read this far and know anyone who you think would enjoy working for us, please let them know.
