We enjoyed our stay at the Botel Marina. The slightly extra walking distance from the centre of Bratislava was more than compensated for by the good standard of the facilities and helpfulness of the staff, and for those who don't like walking, there is always the tram. The room was small, but this is to be expected on a boat. (<< Back to Botel Marina)

Botel Marina staff were friendly and helpful... excellent. Was hard to believe that the pictures on the website were real...but they were! Really good facilities. Amazed it was so quiet.
I was thinking of recommending the Botel Marina...but if I did more people would go there, and I want it all to myself! :))) Seriously though, I have recommended it to many people already. (<< Back to Botel Marina)

The Botel is just what you see on the web site. The best part was having the upper deck to spend the afternoon having a few drinks after a long day of site seeing. I will recommend this hotel to others as it would have to be one of the best in town. (<< Back to Botel Marina)

Some on the website had said the rooms in Botel Marina were too small, but I disagree. The rooms were perfect. Staff at Botel Marina was excellent - they quickly checked me into my room early and got me an excellent room with an excellent view. Staff from reception to cleaning ladies were extremely courteous. The rooms were well-priced. I would highly recommend Botel Marina to anyone, especially for the experience of living on the Danube. (<< Back to Botel Marina)

I thought Botel Marina was great. Possibly not 4-star as it claimed, but lovely none the less. The staff were helpful, the rooms were clean and the breakfast was pretty good. Botel Marina was a little bit smaller than we thought (impression from the pictures was bigger) but that was absolutely no problem, the rest was as expected (really 4 stars). The Standard of the boat was very good. The whole boat has air-condition (also in the rooms) which was very appreciated on our weekend. Everything was clean and comfortable, the breakfast very good and the night bar really nice. On Saturday evening there was a wedding in the restaurant and we feared a little bit that it would be perhaps loud in the night but absolutely no problem. The rooms were quiet and we slept wonderfully. (<< Back to Botel Marina)

We also thought the best restaurant food we had on the trip was the cheese soiup we had at the botel. (<< Back to Botel Marina)

The botel accomodation was a very pleasant surprise being moored on the banks of the Danube. The staff were extremely helpful and although the cabins/rooms were small the overall standard was higher than we expected. This was the first time in my life I stayed in a botel and it was really a good experience: the receptionists were really kind and everything was good in my room. The only bad thing I found was the noise created by people walking on the gangway to reach the reception of the hotel during the night, but to express a rate, I can give a 8 out of 10 to Botel Marina. I did stay at the hotel along with 7 members of my group and all were very satisfied with their rooms and the hotel in general. I found it to be pretty much as expected and certainly much better than what I'd expect to get for £25 a night in this country.
The receptionist who greeted us was very good too, she spoke good English and assisted us without being asked booking taxis and telling us the best places to go etc.
I would certainly recommend the Botel Marina to other guests. It is in a good location only 10 minutes walk from the town centre where the bars etc are, it was clean and comfortable and friendly staff. (<< Back to Botel Marina)

The level is noise is above that of a 'normal' hotel, but it would not stop me using Botel Marina again.

The hotel was as described and we were very pleased with it. It is set in a great location on the Danube and we loved the experience of staying on a boat. The hotel is a pleasant 5 -10 minute walk from the Old Town along the side of the river. The views from the restaurant were lovely and the staff were very efficient. The hotel was very quiet. It may be a bad choice for wheelchair users (and maybe people with babies/very young children) because the hotel is accessed via a 'gang plank'. (<< Back to Botel Marina)

Botel Marina was lovely. The staff were very helpful and friendly, the rooms were clean and comfortable, the only criticism being that they were rather small, although we were aware that they would be as it is a boat! Rooms were a bit small but then again you are on a boat. Everything was very clean and comfortable. The ramp was a bit steep down to the boat so wouldn't be suitable for the older generation. A good reason to choose Botel Marina is the very polite service, the good view of the castle and the bridge, the quality of the service, the experience of staying on a boat, good position near to the city centre, even if the street from the bridge to Botel is a bit dark. There was only a little problem: air coming trhough windows even if closed.
We judge our stay at Botel Marina a good experience. (<< Back to Botel Marina)

Steve from UK wrote on 23.09.2005:
The Botel was how it was described although the description of the bar as a nightclub is perhaps misleading. While it stays open late and plays loud music, I would like to point out that as it is in the lower deck of the ship, it does not interfere with any of the guests trying to sleep.
The Botel was a great place to stay. It has a romantic appeal at night and is only 10 minutes walk from the edge of the Old Town. For those who intend to stay a considerable time in their rooms, I would suggest booking the suites. While the rooms were perfectly satisfactory for my trip, others may not appreciate the separate twin beds or the economic space. It is a converted boat and potential guests should think about how this will affect the rooms. (<< Back to Botel Marina)

Certainly a very good choice for travelers to Bratislava. It is on the edge of the old city center, making it very easy to walk into town, but also keeping it away from any late night noise. Very calm and peaceful. The only negative point would be that as it is a boat, the rooms are quite small. For me this was to be expected, and not at all a problem, but it could be more important to some. (<< Back to Botel Marina)

In general, I enjoyed my stay at the Botel, the restaurant that the food was served in was very nice and the boat is done up nicely.
However, I was woken in the morning by the banging out side (which I think was the cleaning going on in the other hotel rooms). Also, as the beds were low with the window situated above them a lot of light shone down on my face while I was trying to sleep in the morning as the curtains just fitted the window above the bed, this agian made it difficult to sleep in the morning. Good: nice view, reasonable price, reasonable breakfast, reasonable comfort
Bad: the attitude of the staff is boarderline impolite, the cleaning staff don't smile, the reception staff is a bit stern, the bar staff don't really take an interest in the clients (we arrived tired after a 5 hour trip, the bar staff were having their lunch and we had to beg to have a glass of wine... that we paid of course) (<< Back to Botel Marina)

Botel Marina was an interesting choice! Something different. Very good from a budget standpoint. Maybe clarify the proximity to the square or happening parts of town.

A good choice because it is central to the tourist area of the old city and the castle. The hotel standard is certainly not 4 stars. Especially the breakfast waiters were rather ignorant and uninterested. Since a hotel on a boat can be a new expierence, it might be worth staying there once, but not really twice!!! The Marina botel is extremely noisy. I went to the restaurant the first night I stayed for convenience and then loved the food so much I couldn't not go there the following night too. Breakfast is equally as good. The hotel is a good choice if you want something a little different because being on the river is nice. The staff are helpful and polite with good English, the place is spotlessly clean and new and the food is good (we had dinner in the restaurant one night and the food was very good). It is only about 7 minutes walk to the old town but some people might prefer to be staying right in the old town if they don't like to walk much. When we were there it was very quiet so lacked atmosphere - it would benefit from more life and more extrovert personalities from the staff. (<< Back to Botel Marina)

The hotel is on the River Danube within 15 minutes walk of the historical part of Bratislava. It's away from city traffic and definitely a novelty. In keeping with the Botel being converted from a ship the rooms are cabin-style: the room we stayed in had two built-in single beds and a "wet room" style bathroom. The staff were friendly, had good English and the owner allowed free internet access for guests to check e-mails. The beer in the mini-bar was about the same price as the bar -around one Euro, the beakfast buffet was of a good hotel standard and the big river water setting makes a difference from regular city street hotels who don't really have the same type of views! Hotel was reasonable. Excellent restaurant. Hotel room lacks some of the amenities that I expect from a four star hotel. It seemed more like a good three star hotel but the price was O.K. Location of Botel Marina on the Danube was pleasant. Lack of a nice entrance or clear sign on the street made it a little hard to find. The entire Botel listed slightly toward the shore side, which was unfortunate. It was close to the city center. (<< Back to Botel Marina)

I have to say that the hotel was a amazing surprise. We only stay one night but we left your hotel talking about the wondefull day we spent there. You have to be very proud with your staff there (women in the reception, waiters, etc). The breakfast was really delicious; the emplacement of the hotel, marvellous, and your people, very kindly. I would recommend the Hotel for budget travellers. It is nicely situated on the Danube river just under the castel. It is clean, the rooms are small (like on a ship, i.e. no surprise) The breakfast buffet is a bit disappointing, the service personel lacks a bit the service mentality. (<< Back to Botel Marina)

The hotel was adequate. The room was slightly small as you would probable expect from a boat cabin! The only thing I would say is that it was a 10-15min walk to the city centre and it was further out than most of the other hotels. (<< Back to Botel Marina)

It is nice and clean, staff is friendly though not everybody in the restaurant e.g. seems to speak other languages well. You get value for money and the location is very nice. It is quite a walk from the centre for those with luggage and some indication of that distance on the website would be useful. (<< Back to Botel Marina)

The hotel was very nice, only the rooms were a bit smaller as we expected. We reserved the suites but they looked more like a double room. I would definitely recommend the hotel to other travellers as it is in a very nice part of Bratislava and being on a hotel on the Danube creates a very special atmosphere. Its close to the city centre, you can get there easily by walking. (<< Back to Botel Marina)

We really enjoyed our stay on the Botel Marina. Near to the center and nice located under the castel and on the Danube. Next time in Bratislava same place. (<< Back to Botel Marina)

The hotel was lovely. I was only in Slovakia for a short stop over for business and didn't get to see much of the city but if the staff at the Botel Marina are typical of Slovak people I will be returning. (<< Back to Botel Marina)

The hotel was as we expected, four star conditions, and everybody was very kind...It's a great hotel, with nice view, and having breakfast on the Danube is not something you do every day. (<< Back to Botel Marina)
