Bratislava Hostels, Budget Accommodation Guide
Best Bratislava HostelsIf you are looking for a cheap place to stay and want to meet travelers from around the world, Bratislava youth hostels are a good option, indeed. Prices for youth and student hostels are lower in Bratislava than in Prague, Budapest, Krakow or Vienna.Standard hostel rooms start at about SKK 600 (EUR 18.93) per private double room per night (usually without ensuite facilities or breakfast) or about SKK 400 (EUR 12.62) per bed in a dorm room. In the months of July and August, university dormitories and residence halls turn into youth hostels offering rooms for visitors, starting at about SKK 220 (EUR 6.94) per person per night in a dorm room (with very simple facilities). Youth hostels have shared toilets and showers and often security deposit is required for a key (about SKK 1000 (EUR 31.54)). Downtown Hostel Backpackers opened in 2004 situated in the centre near Bratislava's Presidential Palace at Panenska street offers clean and cheap rooms and very friendly, youthful and dynamic service. Hostel resides in an old renovated building in a very calm street. There is a public transport stop with most of the public transport lines available just a few meters from the front door making Downtown Backpackers Hostel an ideal choice when coming to Bratislava by bus or train. The Hostel is an ideal choice for all backpackers and other undemanding travelers coming to explore Slovakia's capital. Another hostel that opened in 2005 is the Patio Hostel located on Spitalska street. It is just some 200 meters from Tesco department store and close to the most of the Old Town's historical sights. Hostel Patio is well served by public transportation with tram stop in front of the building and trolleybus stop some 100 meters far. City Hostel is located right on trendy Obchodna street filled with bars, restaurants and clubs. The street is very popular among Bratislava teenagers that make raids to its pubs, bars and clubs every Friday and Saturday. City Hostel thus provides an ideal location for social life in the city as well as starting point for visiting Bratislava Old Town's sights. Even though Obchodna street is a pedestrian zone served only by trams, there is a direct connection to Main Train Station (tram no. 1). University dormitories functioning as hostels in the summer are located in different parts of Bratislava. They are mostly easily reachable by public transport lines from both bus and train stations and have no curfews.
