Bratislava Stag Weekend Recommendations

Bratislava has become one of the Europe's favourite stag destinations preferred mainly by the UK tourists not only because of the cheap alcohol and nice girls but due to the hospitality and good services as well. Although prices have risen since the first stags landed in Bratislava, conviviality stayed unchanged. However, as every tourist destination even Bratislava offers certain advantages as well as disadvantages especially for stag groups. To avoid misunderstandings and to enjoy your stay in Bratislava follow our stag weekend recommendations.

Arrival
The number of airlines performing in Bratislava has multiplied since the accession to the European Union. The once small and calm Bratislava Airport of M.R. Stefanik has changed to a busy destination for many European airlines. We recommend Sky Europe flights serving from London Stansted and Manchester and RyanAir flights serving from London Stansted. Another airlines fly to the Vienna airport located approx. 60 km away from Bratislava (one hour by shuttle). Visit London-Bratislava flight schedules for flight schedules from and to UK destinations.

Transfers
All hotels in Bratislava are accessible from the Bratislava Airport by taxi or by bus. Please note, that taxis ordered by telephone charge less than taxis parking in front of the airport. The rate for a radio taxi ordered by telephone from the airport to the city centre should not be more than 200-SKK 350 (EUR 11.56) depending on the taxi company and traffic situation. On the way back the staff at the hotel reception will help you to organise your transfer to the airport on request. For more on taxi services and taxi phone numbers in Bratislava visit Bratislava Taxi Information.

Accommodation
Although Bratislava stil offers rather limited accommodation capacity, there are round 100 accommodation facilities available including budget as well as luxury hotels and self-catering apartments. However, due to the limited accommodation capacity we recommend to book accommodation at least one month in advance. The stag-friendly hotels are on offer in all categories (from SKK 1000 (EUR 33.02) per double room to SKK 4900 (EUR 161.81) per double room) including luxurious Hotel Danube and Hotel Tatra, budget hotels Hotel Rapid and Hotel Turist, in the city centre located Botel Marina, Hotel Kyjev, downtown located City Hotel Bratislava and Hotel Club. However, due to inappropriate behaviour Hotel Maysak does not accept stag/hen groups anymore.

Pubs and bars in Bratislava
The most visited pubs and bars in Bratislava are located in the pedestrian zone of the Old Town and around the city centre. Please note that not all of the pubs and bars accept stag groups mainly due to the size of the groups. Therefore we recommend to look for a bigger pubs as for instance Dubliner's Irish Pub and El Diablo Bar on Sedlárska Street, Slang Pub on Hviezdoslavovo Squire, Corrida de Toros on Laurinská Street, Slovak Pub on Obchodná Street and Smíchovská Perla on Mariánska Street.

Please keep in mind the cultural differences. Singing and noisy entertainment might be considered as rude behaviour, therefore do not be surprised by the staff's negative reactions.

In general the pubs and bars offer a wide selection of alcoholic and soft drinks. Try some of the genuine Slovak beers as Zlatý Bažant, Corgoň, Šariš, Topvar or go for one of the Czech as Budvar, Kozel, Pilsner Urquel or Staroprameň. We also recommend to try one of the typical Slovak alcoholic drinks as Borovička or the Slovak rum called Um. The bars around the city centre offer a wide range of mixed alcoholic drinks. Try Coctail Bar on Panska or Greenwich Pub on Zelená Street with live DJ every night. The prices have risen but drinks are stil cheaper as in Western Europe. We recommend to check the price lists (as tourist are money).

Bratislava Clubs and Nightlife
Some of the most popular disco clubs in Bratislava are located in the city centre. One of the biggest is Charlies Club on
Špitálska Street (next to Tesco Store). La Verna on SNP Squire is a small usually overcrowded disco. Cirkus Barok is a special disco club on a boat on the river Danube (next to Botel Gracia) mainly visited by tourists. Another favourite disco is Casey Disco Club on Botanická Street located 10 minutes away by public transport (trams No.1, 4, 5, 9,12,17 and buses 32, 29). The so far biggest club in Bratislava is Dopler on Prievozská Street again located outside the city centre but easily accessible by public transport (trolleybuses No. 201, 202, 207, 208).

The beautiful Slovak girls will hardly refuse a company for a drink. Looking for strip bars go for Big Apple on Vysoka Street. For more information visit Prostitution in Bratislava.
