Bratislava to remain 'an open city' during Bush/Putin Summit - Head of Police
The head of the Slovak Police force said a week before the February 24 meeting between President George W. Bush and President Vladimir Putin.
Police Force President Anton Kulich was reported as saying to journalists that "the aim of the security measures was for to remain an open city. The life of Bratislava inhabitants will not be restricted in any way."
There will be traffic restrictions on the routes of presidential motorcades and complete closures before and during their passage. The zones with the highest level of prtoection will be centered around the summit venue - Bratislava Castle and around hotels Carlton and Devin.
The police will check persons and objects extensively and all visitors are asked to carry a valid form of ID at all times (e.g. passport).
There are no expectations or signals of disruptions by large-scale demonstration but the police are prepared to handle mass protests and have tightened security at the borders.
