We will take you along the Coronation Road which witnessed coronations of 19 Hungarian monarchs - 11 members of the ruling Habsburg dynasty, including Maria Theresa, and 8 royal wives. Coronation processions historically started at the Castle, and continued to the St. Martin’s Cathedral, where the aristocracy declared their votes of new monarchs. The monarchs then rode across the whole city to a Franciscan church, where they knighted chosen men, and afterwards came to a coronation hill by river Danube.

You will see Bratislava defecse systems from the time of the middle ages up to the present. The Old Town fortification of Bratislava consisted of the city walls, city gates and other elements, relicts of which you will see on your way. The guide will tell you about the fortification and battles related to Bratislava connected with Napoleon, The Second World War, etc. The main highlight of the tour is a visit to the so called “Small Maginot Line”, which was constructed between 1935 and 1938 on the outskirts of Bratislava. It consists of various defensive fortification elements forming a part of the defensive belt around borders of the former Czechoslovak Republic. The Slovak Small Maginot Line was based on the design and concepts of the French Maginot Line, and proved useful in real battles. The fortified area consisted of iron-concrete bunkers, artillery positions, machine gun posts and other defenses mutually joined with ditches and subterranean phone conductions. During the tour you will be able to see a military cemetery from the 1st World War, interesting pictures, and real examples of “iron curtain” border obstacles preventing people to escape from the communist bloc.

For centuries the ancient Bratislava was one of the most important Jewish educational centres in Europe. During this tour, you will explore the history of the Jewish community in Bratislava up till today. You will start with the memorial and final resting place of the world-known Jewish religious scholar rabbi Chatam Sofer (Moses Schreiber), known to his own community and Jewish posterity as Moshe Sofer. Then you will continue to the Holocaust memorial, built on the place of former Jewish Synagogue, which had been destroyed in the 20th century. Afterwards you visit the Jewish Synagogue you will be able to enter the Jewish street with its museum. You will be taken through the colourful villages and small towns to Pezinok, which lies in the foothills of the Small Carpathian Mountains.
