The accomodation was exactly as shown (in the photographs) and located as described.
The rooms were of a very good standard and displayed a high level of cleanliness.
The staff at the city hostel were very good. They spoke excellent English and were polite and helpful.
Confirmation was received almost immediately after booking had occurred.
This was my second visit to the city, and in my opinion the accommodation was very good value. I would recommend the city hostel and would happily return again.
This accommodation would not suit groups of noisy tourists (stag and hen parties), as most guests were in couples. (<< Back to City Hostel)

I have to say the whole thing went extremely well. If anything youy understated the accommodation which for a hostel was a lot cleaner, tidier and secure than I was expecting.
I would say it is for people like us, a bed for the night, with clean shower and toilet facilities per room. Do not expect room service or refreshments.
The only negative in terms of the rooms is a lack of safe facility which meant we had to take all of our money with us each day. (<< Back to City Hostel)

City Hostel was as described in the feedbacks I read...clean, large rooms, a little bit anonymous in terms of architectural and furniture style, but well located up-hill the old city with a quiet neighbourhood, comfortable and safe-looking for lonely travellers as I was. We checked into City Hostel without a hitch. The staff were friendly and helpful and the room was very clean and as described on the website. There was some noise throughout the night from other guests and so I believe the accommodation is best suited to young travellers. The hotel itself was fine. One very minor point is that they need to get the internet sorted! It is free, but I haven't ever ever seen such a slow connection speed!! Unfortunately our stay at City Hostel was not very good. We arrived just before 24:00hrs as we informed them,and were assigned our room.Just before 08:00hrs we were woken by very loud drilling and hammering from the room above. It was so loud It was unbearable. I went to complain to reception and was informed there was an extension being built, no apology nothing. I e-mailed them on my return and recieved an apology but I think I should have been given a discount or offered another night sometime in the future,as I would never have stayed in the room if I had been told It was going to be noisy therefore I feel duped. The hostel was indeed a very good deal. Ensuite bathroom, linen, towels, etc make the place feel more like a hotel than a hostel. However, I do have some reservations. It can be rather noisy during the night and not all staff speak English. My major complaint is the taxi to the airport booked for us by the receptionist. It was very dodgy indeed with pictures of naked women on the dash board and above all we were charged 900 Koruny, which is double what we paid from the airport to the hostel. City Hostel is quite near to the center and easy to reach by foot but not so near as described. It seemed like newly renovated. The staff was very friendly, the rooms small, but nice and clean with very, very hard beds. But: I would never stay there again, because it was so loud the hole night, that we couldn't sleep for a minute. Doors were slamed at 5 in the morning, people were shouting. Usually the reception should say something - they were there 24h - but the reception is in another building where they might not hear the noise. The hostel was fine, the room was clean and spatious and it turned out to be even cheaper then it said on the website, because I had to pay the price of a single room for a double bedroom (single use). There were two minor problems: there was a very bad smell in the bathroom (the sewers probably) and people started working in the courtyard of the hotel quite early (at 7.30am), which was rather noisy. The location of the hostel was perfect and the room was spacious enough for 3 people. However, our bathroom was not cleaned after the previous customer, the trash bin was full and there were underwear on the floor. The staff didn't clean it, despite our request. We found it exactly as described. The locals over there were very friendly and helped us with all our questions.
Our room was very clean and exactly as described in the text and on the photos. The place itself is quiet, very near the center and not so far from the train station, but due to road works (whole Bratislava looked like under construction), it wasn't so easy to reach it.
Check also the nearby coffee shop ("Coffee and co") out.
One slight negative point about the room is that there seemed to be a problem with the bathroom sewers, every morning the bathroom smelled quite bad. (<< Back to City Hostel)

The stay at the City was great, the price very good, the place very clean. I would recommend it without any hesitation. The fact that there was no phone and internet connection was a problem (internet is now a must). And the walls of the hotel are a bit thin. But the price/ quality ratio was good.
