Bedrooms and corridors decor require redecoration -They are grim and unattractive , but clean, comfortable and functional. More pictures and brighter colours and light might help. Downstairs by contrast was attractive and on a par with any modern hotel. Breakfast was very good. Service was friendly and efficient.

City Hotel Bratislava is a decent hotel for both business and leisure travelers offering very good value for money. It is located in the Ruzinov quarter, driving distance to the city center. Three standards of rooms are on offer (standard "A", standard "B" and business) and the rooms are nice and comfortable (even the cheaper standard rooms).

All type standard "A" rooms have been recently refurbished, have new beds and are newly painted. Type "B" have older furniture, older beds and are cheaper.

In the Communist era before 1989, the hotel was known as Hotel Bratislava. In recent years it has put on a new friendly face including professional marketing and customer service.

Nearby, there is a supermarket, banks and other businesses. Not much of interest for the leisure traveller is within walking distance of the City Hotel Bratislava, but the city centre is easily accessible by taxi or public transport within 20-25 minutes.

Breakfast is included in the price listed (Buffet breakfast).

Discounts: The hotel has discounts for regular patrons (5 - 30 % depending on frequency of stay), a corporate rate (20 % off).
Weekend stays receive 20 % discount.

The bathroom of the City Hotel Bratislava was not European standard, the towels dirty as the toilet itself.

Hotel was very disappointing - rooms not as expected - bed linen not clean. Will not stay again or recommend.

City Hotel Bratislava is a nice hotel, now renewed and with a quite elegant hall. Even the standard rooms are comfortable and the prices are reasonable. But the service standards are low. (Too) many people working there are not interested, unprofessional and not very kind at all, especially in the restaurant + bar. The last time the overall-level at the reception is getting better: the employees are getting more friendly and pay more attention to your wishes. Yet they still forget most of the times to give you the requested wake-up call.

I'd recommend it as a good base, being handy for the airport etc, provided people didn't want to be in the historic centre of the city. It was as I expected except the staff were more friendly/helpful. The hotel windows open right out...Some parents might be worried their children could fall through.
