The Herald: Bratislava set to take off as short-break haven in 2005
The Glasgow Herald said Bratislava was set to take off as a short-break haven along with Beirut in 2005 in its 2005 Travel Hot List published on January 17, 2005.
The Herald pointed out Bratislava was more easily accessible then ever
thanks to direct EasyJet flights from London Luton, with connections
available throughout the UK.
The article cited "pretty outdoor cafes and impressive baroque residential palaces" as highlights and pointed to significant investment from premier hotel chains such as the Radisson SAS, Crowne Plaza or Mariott.
At the same time it highlighted low prices of goods and services: "Once
you get there, it's not a destination likely to break the bank. Typical
prices are 40p for a bottle of beer, Ł10 for a meal for two and Ł4 for
good bottle of wine."
