Older Reviews for Apollo Hotel (former Hotel Dukla) ****

We enjoyed staying in the hotel. Some older guests might want to be nearer to the city centre. The free mini-bar was welcome. The restaurant was spectacular and an important reason for choosing the Dukla. (<< Back to Apollo Hotel (former Hotel Dukla))

The hotel was what I expected it would be, very good and comfortable
It is a good choice for its comfort, good food, not far from city centrum by taxi. (<< Back to Apollo Hotel (former Hotel Dukla))

Definitely better than expected. Food was excellent - very nice meals. Only issue about Dukla is that there is not much about immediate to the hotel - i.e. shops restaurants, and is in a very quiet location - although taxis are very cheap, and it is nice to be in a quiet areas! The hotel was OK, but it was not quite clear is it 3 or 4 stars (in some booklets it was stated as 3, in some other as 4). The only complaint I could have is about the bed: it was too hard for my taste; it almost feels like there is no mattress at all. The choice of soft drinks in the mini bar could also be broader, although it was great that they were for free. The hotel was ideally positioned for my primary purpose, but only a short walk to the city center makes it well positioned for tourists too. Also, it is not hard to find it if you travel by car. Very nice personnel working in the hotel, they are all very friendly, helpfull and consciencious in their work. The hotel restaurant was stylish, and the meals were excellent, well presented and well served. Maybe something in addition, people staying at the hotel have a 20 % discount on the meals. Drinks in the fridge of the room were free. I do not have any bad points. (<< Back to Apollo Hotel (former Hotel Dukla))

I was very pleased with the hotel, which was much nicer than I was expecting, well appointed and comfortable. The walk from the town centre took me through a rather rundown part of town, which made me slightly concerned. I would have described it as a top class businessman's hotel (and I have stayed at some of the worlds top business hotels). The restaurant was excellent, with helpful, friendly, courteous staff and very reasonably priced. Please bear in mind that I was travelling alone, in (good) jeans, so in exchange for comfort I ran the risk of being treated disrespectfully. I could not have been treated better either at reception or in the restaurant if I had arrived in a full business suit with a briefcase. The next time I go to Bratislava, I will certainly go back to the Dukla. (<< Back to Apollo Hotel (former Hotel Dukla))

I thought the hotel was excellent in every way. The food was very good and everything was very clean. I have been in several hotels in Slovakia and Dukla was one of the best. (<< Back to Apollo Hotel (former Hotel Dukla))
