Latest feedback on Hotel Kyjev: Hotel Kyev was more or less as promised on your website though the rooms were in a state of disrepair that I would not normally find acceptable. I have attached a few photo's of our room for your information. On the upside: the rooms were clean, the hotel staff was very friendly and spoke good English, the breakfast buffet was very good (and included in the price) and the price for an overnight stay was the same as the backpackers hostel across the road though there the breakfast was not included. The location is very good, walking distance to the old part of town and close to public transport.
On the down side: the rooms and the entire hotel are old and lived up without any signs of renovation. The rooms were overheated, even at night. The walls are paperthin, to the point that we thought someone was trying to get into our room when guests arrived in the adjoining room. Smoking is still allowed inside and there are no non-smoking areas it seems.
All in all, Hotel Kyev is a bit of leftover "communist era" and as such exudes a sort of charm that cannot be found elsewhere. For backpackers and people who don't care about creature comforts too much this is a good bargain, just tell them to pack earplugs.Jessica from USA wrote on 11.05.2008 More feedback...
Hotel Kyjev is one of the very few cheaper hotels in the heart of Bratislava , a high-rise building designed in the 1970s conveniently located just five minutes walk from the historical city centre at a very reasonable price.
In the Communist era, it used to be the place for dignitaries and businessmen from friendly countries to stay and it certainly looks it both on the outside and within, but many foreign visitors actually appreciate the spirit of the era long gone by that lingers on the premises (that also explains the name of the hotel - Kiev referring to the Ukrainian capital).
The rooms are furnished with simple, practical furnishings, although often dating back to the hotel's "golden era". All rooms have en-suite bathroom and toilet.
Kyjev offers friendly staff, great cuisine (including breakfast consistently praised by guests) and fairly cheap accommodations in the city centre for business and leisure travelers.
While offering no great luxury, due to its location, Kyjev is very good value for money for travelers who are willing to accept 2-star standards in favour of a central location.

Visitors' feedback: Eva from Slovenia wrote on 08.05.2008: The personnel was very nice, the location of the hotel was perfect and the price suitable.Frank from Germany wrote on 27.04.2008: The Room was in horrible condition. I can't open a window and so it was always warm and a bad smell in the room. The service was good, but the room itself - the carpet and the corners was waste. Also in the bathroom. Service and overall value was good.Alan from UK wrote on 25.04.2008: The hotel was exactly as described with very friendly and helpful staff and I would recommend it to anyone travelling on a small budget. The rooms were very clean though a little basic but overall good value.Chad from USA wrote on 23.04.2008: Description of the hotel was accurate. The Hotel Kyjev is in the perfect location for my business requirements in Bratislava. The room was clean, the service excellent, the value beyond reproach, and the
daily breakfast was one of the best I have ever experienced (not to mention the very convenient 6am opening time).Daniel from Uruguay wrote on 21.04.2008: Your description is accurate. The location is excellent, good prices and very clean, services and quality are good.
A friend recommend me this hotel and i recommend to all people who travel to Bratislava to stay in Hotel Kyjev.
Hotel Kyjev 80's fashion is a plus for me, is a different touch!! But I recognize, many people like actual design...Gundula from Germany wrote on 14.04.2008: The description was accurate. The hotel kyjew was an experience. The rooms are budget, the service five stars. It is a shame, that they want to tear it down within a few years. They should renovate this.>> Read older feedback for Hotel Kyjev
