We did stay at Hotel no 16 in Bratislava and enjoyed our short break. The hotel had its own attractive character, which we much prefer to big chains. Our room was very clean and comfortable. Our only slight difficulty was that we did not speak Slovak at all and we occasionally misunderstood what the staff said to us in English. They were, however, very friendly and we would recommend the hotel to our friends.

Raved about by Western travel publications, the Hotel No. 16 offers a quiet, family-run luxury oasis in a plesant leafy neighbourhood walking distance from the downtown.

The hotel features luxurious custom-made traditional furniture, beautiful views and highly personalized service. There is a summer garden and views of the castle and much more. A jewel for travellers who hate impersonal chains.

The owners who attend to guests personally are both artistis: Brano Hronec is a former musician and Judita Vargova a former actress.

All rooms are equipped with LCD TV sets and a computer with non-stop highspeed internet access.

Breakfast is not included in the price listed. Available breakfast: Buffet breakfast available for EUR 13 per person..

Discounts: Weekend discounts of 10% (for single, double or triple rooms) or 20% (for suites and studios) are only applicable if stay is paid by cash.

From Airport take bus no. 61. get off at Karpatska stop. Walk back about 20 meters to busy intersection and then turn left and walk straight to the trolleybus stop (Sancova stop) Take the trolleybus no. 203 (direction Stare Mesto-Budkova). Get off at Partizanska stop and continue to the street on your right. Walk up the street for about 150 metres. Hotel No. 16 is on your right. (35 minutes)

From Main Train Station take bus no. 93, get off at Hodzovo nam., walk to underground passage, go to the left and up to ground level. Change for trolleybus no. 203 or 207. Hotel no. 16 is so much below standard and to "over the top" prices. You should not be recomending this hotel to anyone.

A nice quiet "homely" atmosphere with very friendly staff. I would recommend 'however, expect that the vast majority of global business travellers feel more comfortable in a larger establishment - like a Best Western or Holiday Inn. As a wearily business traveller visiting Bratislava for the first time, it was a relaxing change.

We enjoyed our stay at Hotel 16. The service was excellent and the staff were helpful and friendly. Good choice for people who want to stay somewhere that is different, perhaps to experience more of the Slovak culture.
