Hyde Park Hostel was nice. The room was big (It's originally for 4 persons I think), clean, near the sightseeing places and the man in-charge was polite and was willing to answer our questions. He showed us his lovely daughter and gave us a warm welcome. In general, the experience was good and value for money. But there's one mark-deducting point was that the plastic curtain was broken and it could not cover up the whole window, so the privacy of the guest was affected.

Hyde Park Hostel (formerly known as Crash Hostel) is a medium-sized hostel located directly in the city center in the courtyard of lively Obchodna street.

The hostel has several types of rooms - single, doubles, triples, quads (all of them are private rooms) and two dorms - a five bedded dorm and a six bedded dorm.

It is suitable both for an individual traveller or for smaller groups. Each room has its own ensuite bathroom and is equipped with satellite TV and electric kettle. There is also shared kitchenette available for the guests at the hostel.

Obchodna street is a pedestrian zone with tram tracks and therefore is not accessible by a car. Hostel is also accessible from Vysoka street, where cars are allowed. There are numerous popular pubs and clubs in the area.

Tram tunnel under the castle hill is undergoing reconstruction until September 2010 (estimated). Changes to the tram service include closing of the lines no. 11 and no. 14. Tram no. 16 replaces these lines with the service from Komisarky (Raca district) via city centre (Obchodna, SNP square and Kamenne square) to Astronomicka (Ruzinov). See the detailed timetable. Trams no. 1, 5 and 9 are re-routed via SNP square, Ludovit Stur square and the Danube embankment.

Reconstruction of tram tracks near Trnavske Myto affects tram lines no. 2, 4, 6, 8, 9 and 14. Bus lines no. X6 and X14 service the affected stops.

These changes affect properties serviced by trams no. 2, 4, 6, 8, 9 and 14 listed at Bratislava Hotels website.

Public transport directions
From Airport: Take bus no. 61 to the terminus Hlavna stanica (Main Train Station). (25 minutes)

From Main Train Station take tram no. 13, get off at Vysoka stop. Continue walking straight forward by the tram tracks for about 20 meters. Enter the courtyard on your right. Hyde Park Hostel is in the yard on your right. (10 minutes)

From Bus station take trolleybus no. 206 or 208 and get off at Kollarovo square stop. Walk back to the pedestrian crossing and turn right walking via Kollarovo square to Obchodna street . Continue walking straight forward by the tram tracks for about 50 meters. Enter the courtyard on your right. Hyde Park Hostel is in the yard on your right. (10 minutes)

From Czech Republic:
Continue straight down the highway E65, cross several traffic lights (after Hypertesco Lamac store pass 6 traffic light) and drive direction city center (centrum). Continue to Prazska street, pass Main Train Station and continue on Stefanikova street towards Hodzovo square with Presidential Palace. On traffic lights on Hodzovo square turn left. Pass Hotel Crowne Plaza on your right and take first turn right. You can park your car in the underground garage to your right or turn left and continue driving down the Vysoka street through the crossroad. Watch for the courtyard entrance on your right, where Hyde Park Hostel is located.

From Berg border crossing:
Take route E58 (Viedenska road) until the exit to E75 (Einsteinova street). Follow Einsteinova street. Continue until exit to the Novy most - New Bridge and use it to cross the Danube. Continue straight from the bridge to the first traffic lights. Do not drive underground, stay on surface and go straight. Pass Hotel Crowne Plaza on your right and take first turn right. You can park your car in the underground garage to your right or turn left and continue driving down the Vysoka street through the crossroad. Watch for the courtyard entrance on your right, where Hyde Park Hostel is located.

The experience with the Hostel was good: room was nice, private, clean overall. The Hostel is in one of the major streets with light and night life at night. I liked being there.

I can recommend to everybody the Hyde Park Hostel, it has great location (city center, close to everything what you need), the staff was really nice and helpful, room was clean and it looked like a hotel room, not like a hostel room;), I had a double room (single occupancy) with bathroom, tv, electric kettle, and even with fan! - which was great because during my stay in Bratislava wether was very hot.

As a slightly disabled senior citizen, I found the hostel welcoming, clean and reasonably priced. The manager went out of his way to accommodate my little extra needs and was a great help. The manager was terrific. It was a great location. Only parking presented a challenge.
