Latest reviews of Hotel Michalska Brana:I was not aware that no taxis are allowed within the old town area. This means that the taxi from the train station dropped me off on the main street adjacent and I had to find and carry my bags to the hotel. For an older visitor this could be a big consideration I was disappointed with the Michalska Brana and only stayed one night. There is a large construction site right next door and graffiti on the walls just across from the hotel. It was quite noisy and dusty, not to mention not great to look at from the room. While the street is somewhat charming, overall, I found the hotel to be marginal quality for the price. Breakfast was just ok. I moved to a newer hotel in old town and got a better price with a much better accommodation. I did enjoy the rest of my stay, but was not happy with the M. Brana hotel. Hotel Michalska Brana is a new hotel in a reconstructed medieval building in the Old Town's pedestrian zone, in a quiet side-street right next to the baroque landmark Michael's Tower. One of the hotel's walls is a part of the original city fortifications, parts of which are recognizable in the hotel's interior. The 14 rooms are furnished with modern designer furniture. In addition to double and twin rooms, one Executive Studio and one Executive Apartment are available. Air-conditioned rooms feature flat-screen TV with 30 channels, high-speed internet access, telephone and minibar. En-suite bathrooms are equipped with shower (bath in Executive Studio and Apartment), toilet and hairdryer. Non-smoking rooms and hypoallergenic pillows available.
Breakfast is included in the price listed (Breakfast buffet available between 7:00 am - 10:00 am during weekdays and between 7:30am - 10:30am during weekends. ).

Continue to Prazska street, pass Main Train Station and continue on Stefanikova street towards Hodzovo square with Presidential Palace. On traffic lights on Hodzovo square continue straight to Suche myto. On next traffic lights turn left and follow the tram tracks for about 50 meters, then turn right to Ursulinska street. There is Ursulinky underground garage in the street. From Berg border crossing: Take route E58 (Viedenska road) until the exit to E75 (Einsteinova street). Follow Einsteinova street. Continue until exit to the Novy most - New Bridge and use it to cross the Danube. Continue straight from the bridge to the first traffic lights. Do not drive underground, stay on surface and turn right on traffic lights to Suche myto. On next traffic lights turn left and follow the tram tracks for about 50 meters, then turn right to Ursulinska street. There is Ursulinky underground garage in the street.

The second nite at about midnite a squeaky noise started coming out of the AC vent which made it difficult to sleep. Maybe this was a communication problem with the receptionist, but when we asked her for directions to a laundromat (meaning we wanted to wash our clothes in coin operated washers and dryers) she sent us to a dry cleaner/laundry where you had to pay for each piece of clothing individually. When we returned and tried to clarify what we wanted, she said that this did not exist in Bratislava because everyone had washing machines.3
