Hotel Michalska Brana is a new hotel in a reconstructed medieval building in the Old Town's pedestrian zone, in a quiet side-street right next to the baroque landmark Michael's Tower.

One of the hotel's walls is a part of the original city fortifications, parts of which are recognizable in the hotel's interior. The 14 rooms are furnished with modern designer furniture. In addition to double and twin rooms, one Executive Studio and one Executive Apartment are available.

Air-conditioned rooms feature flat-screen TV with 30 channels, high-speed internet access, telephone and minibar. En-suite bathrooms are equipped with shower (bath in Executive Studio and Apartment), toilet and hairdryer. Non-smoking rooms and hypoallergenic pillows available.

Tram tunnel under the castle hill is undergoing reconstruction until September 2010 (estimated). Changes to the tram service include closing of the lines no. 11 and no. 14. Tram no. 16 replaces these lines with the service from Komisarky (Raca district) via city centre (Obchodna, SNP square and Kamenne square) to Astronomicka (Ruzinov). See the detailed timetable. Trams no. 1, 5 and 9 are re-routed via SNP square, Ludovit Stur square and the Danube embankment.

Reconstruction of tram tracks near Trnavske Myto affects tram lines no. 2, 4, 6, 8, 9 and 14. Bus lines no. X6 and X14 service the affected stops.

Public transport directions
From Airport take bus no. 61 to the terminus (Main Train Station). (25 minutes)

From Main Train Station take tram no. 13 and get off at Postova street (fifh stop). Continue straight about 50 meters, cross the tram tracks and walk towards Michalska veza (Michael's Tower).You are now in pedestrian zone, pass below the tower and turn right to Bastova street. Hotel Michalska Brana is on your right. (15 minutes)

From Bus station take trolleybus no. 206 and get off at Hodzovo square (Hodzovo namestie). Use the underground passage and walk to Postova street. On Postova street turn to the right and folow the tram tracks. You are now on Obchodna street and you can see Michalska veza (Michael's Tower) 200 meters in front of you. Continue straight about 50 meters, cross the tram tracks and walk towards Michalska veza (Michael's Tower).You are now in pedestrian zone, pass below the tower and turn right to Bastova street. Hotel Michalska Brana is on your right.(20 minutes)

Driving directions for Hotel Michalska Brana:
From Czech Republic:
Continue straight down the highway E65, cross several traffic lights (after Hypertesco Lamac store pass 6 traffic light) and drive direction city center (centrum). Continue to Prazska street, pass Main Train Station and continue on Stefanikova street towards Hodzovo square with Presidential Palace. On traffic lights on Hodzovo square continue straight to Suche myto. On next traffic lights turn left and follow the tram tracks for about 50 meters, then turn right to Ursulinska street. There is Ursulinky underground garage in the street.

From Berg border crossing:
Take route E58 (Viedenska road) until the exit to E75 (Einsteinova street). Follow Einsteinova street. Continue until exit to the Novy most - New Bridge and use it to cross the Danube. Continue straight from the bridge to the first traffic lights. Do not drive underground, stay on surface and turn right on traffic lights to Suche myto. On next traffic lights turn left and follow the tram tracks for about 50 meters, then turn right to Ursulinska street. There is Ursulinky underground garage in the street.

The room/apt was lovely and clean. On arrival, the AC was not working in our room so we were moved to an apt. The second nite at about midnite a squeaky noise started coming out of the AC vent which made it difficult to sleep. Maybe this was a communication problem with the receptionist, but when we asked her for directions to a laundromat (meaning we wanted to wash our clothes in coin operated washers and dryers) she sent us to a dry cleaner/laundry where you had to pay for each piece of clothing individually. When we returned and tried to clarify what we wanted, she said that this did not exist in Bratislava because everyone had washing machines.
