FAQ on Self-Catering Bratislava Apartments
Self-catering serviced Bratislava apartments on offer are managed by different individuals and companies. In most cases, these are individual apartments located in regular residential buildings. Each apartment manager stipulates specific conditions for rental, some may require partial or full pre-payment to guarantee the accommodation. Availability The availability calendars for individual apartments are updated frequently. However, since most owners offer apartments through a number of distribution channels, there is always a slight risk that the apartment may have just been reserved or be on hold, while the calendar still shows it as available. If you are requesting an apartment at the last moment, we strongly suggest you also request a hotel alternative in case the apartment becomes unavailable. If you need an apartment at the last minute, please contact us by e-mail. Baby Cots Most apartment owners are able to provide baby cots, sometimes at a surcharge. Inquire about the availability of a cot in the Comments section of the booking form. Bed Linen Unless specifically stated otherwise, bed linen and towels are supplied at all apartments on offer. Children Some of the luxurious apartments or apartments with stairs are not safe for small children as they are not child-proofed.
Cleaning Apartments are handed over to you cleaned. As apartments are self-catering they mostly do not include cleaning during your stay. Some owners provide cleaning services for longer stays at a surcharge.
Cancellations Please cancel your reservation if you will not be using it as early as possible to allow the owner to find other guests. Cancellation policies differ and will be specified in your offer from the apartment owner. Deposit against damage Most apartment owners collect a cash deposit on arrival to insure against significant damage to the apartment. The deposits are usually payable in cash on arrival and refunded when you return the apartment undamaged.
Deposits to guarantee reservation Some apartments require a deposit of 25-100% of cost of stay to guarantee your reservation. The policy on deposit is posted in the description of each of the apartments we have on offer. Some apartment owners do not require a deposit at all. Those who do usually accept one of the following payment methods: 1. via PayPal (PayPal membership not required) 2. by credit card 3. by bank transfer to their Slovak or foreign bank account (expect transfer to take about one week from Western Europe, up to three weeks from other countries) Disabled access None of the apartments presently on offer is equipped to serve customers with disabilities. This quarter, however, consists of several areas: the historical centre, nearby areas with buildings from around the early or mid-20th century, as well as the area around and above the Bratislava Castle. The core of the historical centre comprises the small pedestrian zone. The few apartments available there are quite expensive and have difficult car access and parking.
Minimum Stay Most apartment owners enforce a minimum stay requirement of two consecutive nights. This reflects their costs associated with handing over and collecting the keys, as well as cleaning the apartment. For major holidays such as the New Year, some apartments require longer minimum stays. Parking Some apartments offer parking, mostly at an additional cost. The alternative is to park in public garages, which cost from about SKK 20 (EUR 0.63) per hour to SKK 60 (EUR 1.89) per hour. Street parking in the centre of Bratislava is cheap but very limited. Pets Only apartments indicated to do so in the description usually accept pets. The owners reserve the right to refuse any visitor with pet. If you are travelling with a pet, please state so in the Comments section of the booking form. Standards Most apartments are of a very high standard. Located in the centre or some of the more attractive residential areas. Visitors are asked to respect their neighbours and the 10 p.m. quiet time enforced in residential areas around Slovakia.
